At best the NGOs siphon money principally out of govnt and well-intended but naive do-gooders which squander it on high salaries, admin costs and other self-aggrandizing activities (the Bible more directly describes such as 'riotous living'...).

At worst NGOs are used by federal government agencies to end-run legal restrictions on what they can do directly. A prime recent example of this was Anthony Fauci channelling millions in grant $$ to EcoHealth Alliance/Paul Drazek to continue gain-of-function research on viruses. Congress had specifically prohibited federal agencies including NIAID, Fauci's agency, from engaging in such. We saw where that end-run led the world.

Another example is the millions directed to NGOs including Catholic Social Services, Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society known as HIAS, the International Rescue Cmte and a host of others which organized the past four years' illegal alien caravans (actually, invasion of our southern border) in direct contravention of clear legal prohibitions on 'harboring, housing and/or transporting' aliens outside the color of law. The immediate past DHS Secretary, Alejandro Mayorkas, was a HIAS Board member.

The government/NGO web is very tangled.

Nice comment. You could also add USAID funneling money to so-called news organs like Politico, which is coincidentally laying people off right now.

Amen. Non-Governmental Organization is such a contradiction of terms. They are so alike the government we feel the need to specify they are not, yet also the name reveals the problem - They are NON-governmental - They don't govern. They don't control the space they purport to control. My local Homeschool Book Club exerts more and better governance than the World Health Organization. The NGO is a uniquely American creation. It is a mutated cancer cell, a bastardization, of the volunteerism that amazed Tocqueville. The NGO is volunteerism without Christ or civic virtue, and thus its internal contradictions.

In the US, malefactors that come to my mind are environmental NGOs like the Center for Biological Diversity. Rather sadistic and passive-aggressive towards those 'deplorables' physically working in and with the rural environment. I wish the staffs and management of such outfits had stuck to playing with their My Little Pony collections instead of gratuitously messing with the lives of others, but maybe recent Supreme Court rulings neutering the excesses of various US regulatory agencies, together with Trump's restrictions on federal funding of extra-governmental activities, will starve such self-congratulatory lifestyle gadflies out of their comfortable, non-profit corporation homes.

I stopped giving to generic charities a long time ago. You just don't know how the money is being used. I don't trust the 'reporting agencies' at all because they're just part of the same NGO con-game (like the Better Business Bureau exists to cover up the wrongs of their members, not to make their members behave properly).

NGOs are an extension of the regime. They are clients of oligarchs and spooks, makework schemes for marginal members of the PMC. In an era without true mass politics, they are a useful simulacrum of the old 'civil society' that is largely extinct.

Cutting public funding is essential. Long term, we need to focus on rebuilding civil society. We need organisations that are controlled by members, accountable to real communities, independent of the state.

Jason Russell, the nice, liberal white guy who made the Kony documentary, ended up having a full-blown manic episode soon aftrr the film's release, naked as a baboon on a San Diego street corner. To his credit he got well, married and had two kids, and works as a marketing executive.

If the Pentagon-industrial complex is a revolving door of greed, NGOs are its “woke” cousin: a gravy train for washed-up politicians to monetize their moral vanity. David Miliband—a human sedative who failed upwards to a $1M+/year gig at the International Rescue Committee—joins the ranks of Clinton, Blair, and Mary Robinson (all of whom modestly named foundations after themselves). These aren’t charities—they’re legacy-laundering schemes with tax exemptions.

If NGOs were a TV show, it’d be Shark Tank for do-gooder sociopaths: “I’ll take 10% of your disaster relief fund for a 5% ‘awareness’ fee.” Trump should’ve welded the money faucet shut yesterday

White helmets are an NGO. They were instrumental in perpetrating the fraudulent UN/CIA attack on Syria’s Assad, the only guy in the Middle East cesspool that was protecting Christian’s from people like Netanyahu. Of course Pravda USA thought that his overthrow was great. Blood is on their hands for promoting the murderous NGO agenda world wide.
