Trump seems to be taking the cheap energy path - the real crushing burden of inflation is energy and so everything else rises. Energy costs are everything including food.
The real reason birthrates have been so low is the unaffordability of housing. You can't support children if you have nowhere to house them. Trump's deportation of criminal aliens (no person is illegal!) will do more good for the US birth rate than anything else he could possibly do. Cheaper housing means more children.
Deflation of residential real estate is a dangerous move for a residential housing market that's carrying a big debt load at current prices... but it is still the correct thing to do. The current path is unsustainable in the extreme.

Ditto for Australia. Rents have skyrocketed. House prices are unreachable for many. Boomer landlords seem to be doing okay though....
