Located at the southern end of South America and comprising much of Patagonia, a region known for its ruggedly beautiful, yet empty expanses, Argentina is a country distant geographically as well as one metaphysically often forgotten. That all changed last year when Javier Milei won election to President and perhaps most notably held a rally wielding a chainsaw, promising to slash government bureaucracy and free up the society in an attempt to revitalize the long-struggling economy, plagued for decades by slow growth, chronic inflation, and currency crises. Tonight, we are joined by returning guest Lynn Lockhart, who has family from the land of silver, to help us understand more about Argetina’s history and colorful new president, as well as the implications for radical reform against incumbent systems more broadly.
