I guess I could just copy-paste the last thing I wrote about this exactly two months ago, because the analysis remains unchanged - except we are now beyond the crocodile tear “we all deplore (unsuccessful) violence” stage, and onto snide gloating that they really only have to be right once to rid the world of Orange Hitler.
Bro that’s crazy, his son clarifies. I mean yeah good for him on killing trump or whatever I just didn’t think he’d go for it. Pause for a quick hit on the weed vape.
Ryan Routh’s Ukrainian connections, where he at least purported to be raising funds and volunteers (including smuggling abandoned ex-Afghan National Army soldiers to be Ukrainian mercenaries), appeared in Azov propaganda videos, and met with the defense ministry, are too obvious to ignore. Given the massive support the US intelligence services have provided via the same mechanisms, it would be absurd to claim they didn’t also have him “on their radar”.
One would think that if he were shepherded into this, and the attempt was meant to succeed, a sponsor would be able to provide him with something more suitable that the janky bubba’d SKS he ended up using (although it is an open question how exactly he knew where Trump would be - his golfing appearance was not public, although it may have been inferrable from other public information. Although on the other hand, that would suggest a level of competency belied by his choice of equipment). But I do not think that this was “meant to succeed”, in the sense of a realistic plot where real resources were put into making it effective. His demeanor in public media appears at least slightly delusional, and the Joker hair coloring doesn’t help - this is not Jason Bourne lobbing 338’s over the horizon.
Instead this is precisely the kind of swinging-at-the-pinata I described in the previous article. It may be that the Ukrainians have decided they are default screwed and might as well roll the dice on sponsoring some loons to prevent a Trump presidency. They are already somewhat notorious for placing critics on requested freelance kill lists. It may be that someone in the broader DHS or Secret Service infrastructure (or FAA, which has responsibility for clearing the airspace when Trump is present, or a local cop, or etc.) tipped him off not as part of a concrete plot, but as a “might as well” wall-spaghetti effort. It could be this man was just convinced by the libtard zeitgeist to Do Something because, per the Kamala campaign slogan he regurgitated, Democracy Is On the Ballot.
The fact is that the present power structure is set up to encourage these attacks until one succeeds. This makes at least number six or so since 2016 - the teen who grabbed a security officer’s gun (sentenced to just a year and a day, btw), the stage-rush in the airport hanger, the cancelled Chicago rally, the Summer of Floyd attack on the White House, his wounding in July, and now this. It’s clear the ambient level of violence is not going down until it is made to go down.
So pray that Trump succeeds and has the vision to properly assert control over the situation, or at least put competent hatchet men in charge. As loyal as his supporters are, logistically they cannot form a human shield, and tactically Trump must continue campaigning. He relies on real people voting, so he cannot replicate the Biden basement strategy. He and we are, fittingly, like conscripts on either side of the Kursk pocket - every day is just another gamble.
Normalization of deviance, this is term coined by sociologist Diane Vaughan as the main contributor to the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster.
Vaughan defines the process where a clearly unsafe practice becomes considered normal if it does not immediately cause a catastrophe: "a long incubation period [before a final disaster] with early warning signs that were either misinterpreted, ignored or missed completely". Violent political rhetoric over the span of a decade ultimately normalized seeing your opponent as an existential threat, so any “sane” person would do whatever is necessary by any means necessary to eliminate this threat.
The only problem is sanity is a fungible commodity these days, it comes and goes with the ebb and flow of the 24 hour clickbait news cycle, and the dopamine rush each brings. The normalization of this leads to exactly what we are seeing unfolding this year.
Charles Haywood said this on Twitter yesterday:
'Multiple attempts to assassinate Trump should surprise nobody. As the reality of Trump’s ascension comes into focus, the Left responds, and will always act, as it always does—with unlimited violence, until stopped by force.'
Some have suggested that this can go on for decades or more, implying that the decline is slow and grinding. If society were still structured normally, that might be compelling. It's not. We are at a point of geometric progression of violence and degeneracy heading straight up, and it ends when the use of extreme force is applied.
