Winners

Daniel Penny - Full acquittal. Dismissed charges. He walks a free man. Case never should have been put before a jury.

Pete Hegseth - The media dug into his past with a fine-tooth comb, West Point lied about him but he had receipts. This helps frame all the media hammering as a witch hunt.

Sunnis - Bad stretch for Shia Crescent and now they get to rampage across Syria.

Israel - Hamas is wrecked. Hezbollah decapitated and now cut off from their patron. Iran looks cucked. Assad is gone. Neocons had a mantra, “the road to Damascus goes through Baghdad”. Who is left to cause them concern?

Losers

Assad - Exile. Luckier outcome than his supporters left behind who will be beaten, tortured and executed.

Syrian Religious Minorities - Dark days ahead. The erasure of Christianity in the Middle East in the 21st century is a crime.

Kurds - Unlikely they get a state and unlikely a Turkish backed Syrian junta lets them LARP as sovereign in northeast Syria.
