We Know Who To Blame

Abnormal messaging creates an abnormal environment for abnormal events

Despite always suspecting such a moment, no one was prepared for Saturday evening. An attempt on Trump’s life was in the back of supporters’ minds as a possibility, but we as a nation were beyond that. It was over forty years since Hinckley shot Reagan. Security had improved. The problem we missed was a nation full of the mentally unwell and a near decade long hysterical media environment. This is a media messaging induced assassination attempt.

Trump has been called every name in the book but fascist and Hitler stand out for consistent, ridiculous messaging. This flies in the face of initial he is racist but a moderate Republican messaging of 2015. Jamelle Bouie, ardent black warrior with a white wife per woke laws, credited Trump’s moderate political stances as the key to his success in late 2015. A fair assessment is to call 2016 Trump a GOP version of 1996 Bill Clinton. This of course changed as the general election began in 2016, and went into overdrive once he won.

The key to this is that Trump was an outsider, a wild card and had to be called an unprecedented ogre. The public could never consider his presidency normal. No matter the situation, any event had to be breathlessly reported as unusual. The media did not want the public to consider an outsider hijacking a party and partially delivering to the wants of little people as not just possible but desirable and within norms. This also signaled to other wealthy members of the elite to not try such a move. Trump is a billionaire but rather illiquid. There are more liquid billionaires, and Jeff Bezos recently selling enough Amazon stock to fund a presidential run is proof how it is just on a man’s whim. The media and academia do not want this hence the hysteria.

Everyone knows the media has made the Trump-Hitler comparisons. Everyone knows we are decades into video games shoveling Nazis at players to kill. Everyone knows we have had a decade of punch a Nazi memes with Nazis being anyone to the right of Paul Ryan. There is never a moment of rest, and every single tweet, appearance and decision is a momentous break with tradition. This is an ocean for people to soak in, swallowing the water as waves crest.

Trump’s would be assassin was twenty years old. For half of his life, he heard Trump is a Nazi. No one knows his mental health situation, but it is not hard to assume there will be some school shooter traits. These are suggestible people, and there would be no greater deed for a leftist than to kill the Neo-Hitler. He would go to prison, but be treated like a hero. After all, the last loon to charge at Trump in 2016 was given a slap on the wrist and brought onto CNN for a softball interview.

Will this be the last attempt? Unlikely. The media is already trying to blame Trump’s rhetoric, and things will escalate. There will be no media apologies. They can nudge their Manchurian Candidate assassins. Maybe things escalate with organization of method (drones?). Maybe more targets are selected and on both sides. This was all a preventable problem.

It is easy to envision an alternative timeline of anti-Bush 43 messaging against Trump. Trump would have won a nail-biter re-election, and we would be counting down the end of his term with near historic low approval ratings, setting up a new glorious progressive candidate to take us to utopia. We did not get that though, and it is no one’s fault except for the ladies and gentlemen of the legacy media.
