Americans waited patiently for a big immigration deal. The braindchild of our Senate leadership was drafted in secrecy yet could not even meet the Friday evening 5pm news dump deadline that our government loves for the worst of its creations. Once released, all could see why. This is no bipartisan compromise bill. It is a continuation of business as usual. It is nothing more than ammunition for the establishment to drag President Biden across the finish line. This is not a deal.
On second thought, it is a deal for the enablers of the human tsunami at the border. NGOs that are the infrastructure for this illegal invasion would get paid. Lawyers for the immigrants would get paid. Visas would be awarded immediately for asylum seekers. All of the system’s tricks to lure in, process and distribute Third World invaders stays in place. Israel and Ukraine would get paid. The compromise must be that we would only have to endure 5,000 immigrants a day at the border. A whopping 2 million would be allowed before triggers kicked in to shut things down. Not quite. The president can decide the emergency is not an emergency and open things up again. As Sen. Murphy says, the “border never closes.”
This is not a bipartisan bill for the betterment of America. It’s a hand-out to nonprofits, big business, and Democrat vote harvesters. American businesses have been worried about wage pressure, and even with illegal immigration, it takes time and energy to get those able bodied men and women into roles undercutting native wages. If we hand out visas immediately, they can work for small and big businesses without all the wait and delay. Wage pressure eases. Capital maintains its share of revenue. Win-win… but natives loses.
This is also timed coincidentally as the border invasion becomes too much of a concern for President Biden’s handlers to ignore. Cities are strained. Logan Airport has them squatting indoors with sleeping bags as you pass by on moving sidewalks. Biden himself was on camera asking for a bill just so he would have the power to do something about the border. Anyone with common sense knows this is a lie as President Trump did plenty to enforce our border just enforcing laws on the books dating back to the Clinton administration. Biden signed with his pen EOs that wiped away Trump’s moves to secure our border. Remain in Mexico worked and it was ended by President Biden.
This is purely a publicity move to try to shift the border issue from Biden and Democrats’ fault to an issue where they can say they would do something but those mean Republicans will not let them. Gov. Abbott’s border stunt did shut off a small, little pass, and the subsequent federal dithering made President Biden’s team look not up for the moment. Illegals will just route around that obstruction, but it looks bad for federal power. It also does not satisfy the left wing base, which has been at an unusual level of bloodlust. They Sherman posted and B2 bomber posted, practically masturbating to the thought of killing Texas law enforcement officials. There is always someone they want the ‘other’ to kill whether it is whitey in 2020, the unvaccinated in 2021, Russians in 2022, etc. Weakness is an issue because it chips at the illusions of invincibility and inevitability that the left uses to sell its control to weakling recruits.
Everyone reading this knows ballot harvesting makes voting almost useless. The narrative war matters. Normies did not know there was a surge in illegals coming until governors started sending them to Martha’s Vinyard and northern sanctuary cities. Making those cities feel pain mattered. It could not be denied. MSNBC and CNN might not cover the arrivals, but the local news affiliates would at 11pm. The pressure is on, and urban Democrat voting client blocs are being replaced just as rural border towns were. The heat might sway a few voters, which means the left has to adjust estimates for what they need to print and harvest.
We are an empire. We have a uniparty. If we had a true opposition, a compromise bill would involve deportations now. It would force the party in power to compromise in any form (we cannot find anything Democrats would object to in this bill). If we had an opposition party, its leadership would align legislative strategy with the strategy for the presumptive nominee of their party for the executive slot. We do not have an opposition party. This all has to spin out on its own energy. They are all in a corrupt loop, a Gordian knot if you will. No one could untie it, but one man did approach it with an entirely different solution.
Policy at the Southern border and the general incompetence of our immigration "system" has been an issue that has popped up every few years my whole life. The legislature never changes anything and the ebbs and free flows of illegal (and oft illiterate) immigrants continue while making it nearly impossible for the people you would want to emigrate to arrive safely and legally. Shit sandwich is all they have served for 40 years.
The labor statistics have been showing that all job creation is now going to foreign born nationals.
The Help Wanted sign now reads native-born American citizens need not apply.
